Balmain's Olivier Rousteing is no stranger to the Victoria's Secret phenomenon, routinely casting both its Angels and annual Fashion Show regulars in his brand's campaigns, runway shows and various other events for which "bodycon" is the preferred dress code. But it appears that Balmain and the lingerie giant have made it official, so it speak: On Wednesday, Victoria's Secret announced a formal collaboration with the French fashion house, just in time for the 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
As Vogue reports, Balmain will be working with Victoria's Secret to create custom looks for this year's Fashion Show in Shanghai. Meanwhile, a capsule collection appropriately dubbed #VSxBalmain will launch in Victoria's Secret stores and on its website on November 29 — just one day after the Fashion Show airs on CBS. (According to Vogue, "this collaboration marks the first time VS has ever partnered with a high fashion brand on items to be sold in its stores.")
We've reached out to both Balmain and Victoria's Secret and will update this post as we learn more.
UPDATE, Thursday, Oct. 5, 10:06 a.m.: Victoria's Secret released the first (of what are sure to be many) promotional video for its Balmain collaboration on Instagram on Thursday morning. The clip gives a blurry tease of what appear to be several runway looks that incorporate no shortage of studs, embellishments and fishnet detailing.
