One of the wardrobe staples that I'm always in search of is the perfect black trousers. I haven't found them yet, but along the way I did come across this gem of a pair of pants at, of all places, Uniqlo. The Japanese mass retailer is my go-to for sweaters, socks, Heattech and collaborations with the likes of Christophe Lemaire and JW Anderson, but otherwise I can take or leave much of what they sell. So I was surprised to find a pretty great pair of wide-leg, high-waisted, cropped black trousers amongst the T-shirts and leggings on a recent trip to a Los Angeles location.
Despite being very affordable, they look fancy and fit extremely well (even on my 5'2" frame). They're also very comfy, machine washable and wrinkle resistant, so they're great for travel and I don't have to be obsessive about hanging them up after I wear them. They're the perfect no-brainer item for when I want to look nice but don't want to wear a skirt or dress. They're also low-key and excellent if you want to draw attention to a cool pair of shoes and/or top.
Even better, they're on sale right now for under $20.
Uniqlo drape wide-leg ankle-length pant, $19.90 (from $39.90), available at Uniqlo.
