When I think of corduroy, I think of a really specific pair of cheap brown corduroy pants someone I knew growing up had. I weirdly remember the pants themselves better than I remember who owned them (my sister? a family friend?) or how they were styled, but what I do remember leaves a vague haze of frumpy, middle-school awkwardness in my mind. And since corduroy hasn't been enjoying the kind of fashion renaissance its cousin velvet has been lately, I haven't had to reexamine my general distaste for the material in a long time.
But this jumpsuit from environmentally conscious label Where Mountains Meet is making me reconsider big time. If I could live in overalls, I would, and I like that this jumpsuit feels like overalls that just got a polished upgrade. The cinched-in waist is flattering but I bet the wide legs make this piece comfortable, too. The styling on Where Mountains Meet's site is lovely — the jumpsuit looks great with a patterned pussy-bow blouse underneath — but it'd also be fun to toughen up the rosy color a bit with fishnet socks, a rugged denim jacket and chunky work boots. Corduroy, I'm looking forward to getting reacquainted with you.
Lynn jumpsuit, $525, available at Where Mountains Meet
