On Sunday night, Keira Knightley floated down the red carpet at the 63rd annual Evening Standard Theatre Awards in an ethereal, goddess-like Valentino gown. The event, which celebrated outstanding achievements in London Theatre, was attended by everyone from the musical genius likes of Lin-Manuel Miranda to big-screen stars like Ruth Negga and Cate Blanchett.

Knightley, who is perpetually cast as the beautiful, strong-willed protagonist in period dramas, must have mentally rummaged through the costume departments of Jane Austen films past to inspire the look, which had a combined effect that evoked both the Sugarplum Fairy and Elizabeth Bennet — with access to Mr. Darcy's bank account.

As of late, The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actress has been rather absent from the A-lister fancy party circuit, so we were excited to see Knightley reestablish her red carpet finery at the glitzy British affair. The powdery-hued, ruffled dress was a piece from Valentino's Spring 2018 collection, which she paired with light makeup, a loose chignon, Chanel diamonds and a gold quilted clutch. The ground-grazing tulle confection also featured contrasting velvet green bows that dangled from the sleeves to her mid-ankles, giving off very elegant Victorian-style curtain vibes — perhaps another takeaway from Mr. Darcy's mansion.
