We're living in a Golden Age of merch: Every person, brand or phenomenon with a fandom now has its own line of apparel — Kanye West, Justin Bieber, "Stranger Things," churches, In-N-Out — and now, finally, Pat McGrath. On Tuesday, the legendary makeup artist announced the drop of her first-ever "streetwear collection," #PMGApparel001, via Instagram. "WEAR WITHOUT CAUTION," she told fans, adding that it's an eight-piece line and will be available in-store at Dover Street Market's New York outpost as well as online at PatMcGrath.com beginning on Dec. 7.
In the teaser video McGrath posted to Instagram, models strut around the city wearing the glorious black-and-gold merch, most of which is emblazoned with the winged cat-eye symbol that also graces many of the makeup compacts from McGrath's Labs line and pays homage to the makeup look she created for the Fall 2015 Margiela show. The line includes a bomber jacket, T-shirts (of the long- and short-sleeve variety) and a hoodie — all black and white, with gold or blue designs.
Dover Street Market also posted its own, similar teaser video:
According to a press release (and first reported by Vogue), the collection is limited-edition and will be on sale for an (extremely) short period of time — from Dec. 7 through 13. Prices range from $60 to $400. The lookbook for the merch (see below) was shot on models Teddy Quinlivan, Alexis Jae and Jonathan Rodriguez. There are also campaign videos of Kaia Gerber and Nicolas Ghesquière wearing the bomber jacket from the collection.
"I wanted to create a new, unisex way for people to love Labs without using cosmetics," McGrath told Vogue in an interview about the collection.
"From the moment I first launched Gold 001 in Fall 2015, I've dreamt of creating clothing that captures the codes of Labs' divinely disruptive cosmetic collections," she said in a statement. "I wanted one last surprise in 2017 for my fellow beauty (and fashion) junkies. An alluringly addictive assortment of major merch: the baddest bomber, the hautest hoodie and some of the sickest Ts EVER." See all the items in the gallery below.
