What does one wear if you're living an actual fairy tale and taking engagement photos with your literal prince charming, à la Meghan Markle? A ball gown, obviously, preferably straight from the couture runways.
The official engagement portraits of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are here, and if we were wondering how Markle's style would stack up against her famous future sister-in-law, well, Kate Middleton she is not. While the Duchess of Cambridge went for a simple white dress from high street brand Reiss, Markle's ballgown comes from Ralph & Russo's Fall 2016 couture runway — although, obviously, she added some lining to the gown's sheer top.
The second photo is significantly more relaxed, with Markle changing into a pale, cozy sweater to cuddle up to her future husband. Her ring peeks just perfectly out of Harry's popped coat collar. Are you ready to swoon? I'm just saying, if this was a jewelry ad, I'd be buying.
The royal couple also diverged from William and Kate by hiring photographer Alexi Lubomirksi for the portraits, rather than longtime royal family friend Mario Testino.
"A huge thank you to His Royal Highness Prince Harry and Ms Markle, for allowing me to take their official engagement portraits," Lubomirksi says on his own Instagram. "Not only was it an incredible honour, but also an immense privilege to be invited to share and be a witness to this young couple’s love for each other. I cannot help but smile when I look at the photos that we took."
Same, Alexi. Same.
