As of late, New York City's been somewhat of a slushy winter wonderland — a gross combination of snow, rain and people shuffling around in not-so-cute all-weather shoes (please look to us for help). Aside from completely avoiding the outdoors, I've found that the best way to cope with the cold is to fantasize about warmer days ahead. Or to simply swap sweaters for sarongs to ring in the new year splayed out on a beach.
Sadly, I have no upcoming plans to retreat to an island that isn't Manhattan. But, if I were to find myself shedding all my layers for some much-needed vitamin D exposure, I would be wearing this retro Solid & Striped bikini. Also, this bright orange swimsuit with white square and circle shaped hardware is on sale, so fabulous getaway or not, I'm getting it now and saving it for a later date. And I don't care if it hides in my dresser under piles of knits until May, because I won't be able to forget about it with its highlighter hue poking out, providing a daily reminder that one day I'll be able to go out without looking like a large swaddled baby. Better yet, I'm just going to pin this two-piece to my wall and smile at it until I can throw it on, or use it as encouragement to plan a trip out of this city ASAP.
