On Thursday morning at Men's Fashion Week in Paris, the fashion industry arrived in droves to witness the final runway show for Louis Vuitton menswear designer Kim Jones, who announced his exit from the French fashion house only days before his Fall 2018 collection debut. But while the front row was filled with some of Jones's biggest supporters from the Beckham family to fashion peers, like Virgil Abloh, Olivier Rousteing, Humberto Leon, Heron Preston and more, it was the runway finale that truly captured how highly regarded Jones truly is within the design world.
Though Jones has been creating strictly menswear designers for Louis Vuitton since 2011, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss made a surprise appearance for the designer's final show. Both dressed in matching monogrammed belted coats and lace-up boots, with each model arriving to applause as they hit the runway. Afterwards, the two supermodels joined hands with their close friend — it was Campbell to whom Jones gave his last Supreme x Louis Vuitton hoodie, and Moss whom Jones thinks would likely survive a zombie apocalypse, according to an interview with GQ — for his final bow.
Maybe we're reading into this too much, but perhaps this is a subtle hint to Jones's next move? After all, rumors are swirling that Jones could be headed to Burberry. (Both models have been faces for the British brand.) Theories aside, we're still appreciating this finale as a lovely moment where fashion friends are supporting fashion friends.
