Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world's eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We'll be following the Meghan Markle Effect with our column, "Meghan Markle Wore a Thing." 

Meghan Markle and fiancé Prince Harry's joint public appearances continue with their first official visit to Wales. The engaged couple's outing involved learning more about Welsh culture, including a stop at the historic Cardiff Castle. For the special occasion, Markle wore head-to-toe black Stella McCartney coat with satin tie detailing, Hiut Denim skinny jeans, Tabitha Simmons velvet boots and a scarf. 

And while the monochromatic look may at first come off as a bit macabre, Markle made sure to keep her look interesting with layers, texture and a pop of color, courtesy of her green bag by DeMellier London. While inside, Markle did away with her outerwear and showed off a slightly off-the-shoulder jacket in plaid by Theory
