If you're one of the few people on the internet who managed to miss Oprah Winfrey's moving speech at the Golden Globes this month, go watch it. Right now. Because seeing the rousing address she delivered while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille award will make it that much easier to understand why news that Winfrey is the cover star of InStyle's March issue is so exciting.
Editor-in-Chief Laura Brown made the announcement via Instagram on Wednesday alongside the cover image, which features Oprah wearing a Gucci jacket with the word "loved" across the back. "Yes she is," Brown captioned the photo, followed simply by the word "Tomorrow."
Shot by Phil Poynter and styled by Karla Welch, the cover is a beautiful homage to a powerful woman — one who's been influencing public thought for a long time now, but who feels more zeitgeisty than ever after her speech on blackness and womanhood prompted many viewers to beg her to run for president in 2020. The fact that she's covering a magazine that had a less-than-diverse set of cover stars last year is worth noting, too.
