There are some beauty products that the internet just can't get enough of, and when it comes to makeup, Tarte's Shape Tape concealer is definitely one of them. I, like an idiot, stayed away from it for a long time — probably because I found the name of it to be both confusing and slightly off-putting. It's also technically meant for use in contouring, which isn't really my thing. But then my sister had an extra tube of it that was too light for her skin tone, so I decided to give it a go. And only then did I realize what I'd been missing.
This is quite literally the most perfect concealer texture I've come across. The liquid formula is completely opaque, but it's thin and pliable enough that you can spread and blend it easily over skin. It offers coverage that's intense and full, but it doesn't leave skin flat or chalky. I dab it under my eyes and then blend it with my finger, and it stays put all day. While plenty of other concealers melt, crease or simply disappear throughout the day, this one, plain and simple, does not.
The one true shortcoming of this concealer — and it's an important one — is the shade range. Being that I'm super-pale, they've got me covered. But the range of 14 shades is likely not going to cut it for most people with darker skin tones. I'm sure that's feedback Tarte has gotten nonstop via social media (after all, this is an internet-beloved product), so hopefully they're working on that so all can one day experience the magic.
