10 years after they started their brand as fresh-out-of-Parsons young designers, the duo behind Cushnie et Ochs is splitting up, according to a report by WWD. Michelle Ochs is leaving the company, as is CEO Peter Arnold, while Carly Cushnie remains to helm the label.
Known for its minimalist and sexy aesthetic, the brand just showed its 10th anniversary runway at New York Fashion Week, which featured a live performance by Alunageorge and a collection full of sleek dresses. According to WWD, there's no evidence that designers' choice to part ways was anything other than amicable, but rather that their relationship "had run its course and came to a natural end."
Cushnie will lead the brand as both design head and CEO until a proper replacement for the latter role can be found.
"Over their decade-long partnership, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs have created a vibrant brand, unique in its bold sensuality and minimalist sophistication. As we plan for the next decade, we are realigning our organization with Carly at the helm of our leadership team, while seeking a new CEO from the marketing and merchandising world, who can further accelerate the expansion of our brand," a brand rep told WWD. "Michelle has played an instrumental role in the creation and growth of the brand, and we wish her every success. We also thank Peter for his important contributions."
