It's no secret that Meghan Markle has been getting the bulk of the royal attention recently, and that's only going to increase ahead of her and Prince Harry's May 19 nuptials. But other members of the extended Windsor family are doing things, too! Like, Kate Middleton, who is pregnant, and who hung with fashion people at a London Fashion Week reception at Buckingham Palace on Monday.
The royals are leaning heavily into LFW this season, it seems, because even Queen Elizabeth II is getting in on the action. On the final day of LFW on Tuesday, the 91-year-old monarch made a surprise appearance in the front-row of Richard Quinn's Fall 2018 presentation, seated between Anna Wintour and Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council. The Queen picked a great show to attend in Quinn's: The Central Saint Martins graduate won the 2016 H&M Design Award competition and remains heavily committed to sustainability in his own line.
This being a rare, unannounced visit, the internet swiftly lost its collective mind. Showgoers flooded Twitter with images of the Queen in her light blue Angela Kelly tweed skirt and jacket set, chatting with Wintour while seated in her own padded chair, presumably brought in for the occasion.
Be it because of her excellent front-row view or because of Wintour's company (cute!), it certainly seems like the Queen enjoyed herself.
Perhaps we can expect to see more of her in the fashion space going forward.
