Live Puppies Were the Real Stars of Tod's Fall 2018 Collection
According to the Chinese zodiac calendar, it is officially the year of the dog, and the fashion industry is running with it. For the Tod's Fall 2018 show in Milan on Friday, the brand sent models like Gigi Hadid and Liu Wen down the runway carrying an assortment of puppies in their arms, from bulldogs to chihuahuas.
Tod's isn't the first brand to do so this season: Downtown kid label Gauntlett Cheng also featured dogs on the runway, in keeping with a wider trend that's seen lots of non-adult-human models (think: infants or life-sized robots) making appearances on catwalks.
Still, Tod's iteration of the move was particularly cute. And the collection itself featured little nods to the canine stars, too, with dog-shaped keychains appearing on bags and a color palette that coordinated well with the animals' natural coloring.
