Beauty tutorials are big on YouTube — a search for "makeup tutorial" and "hair tutorial" yields more than five million videos. In this weekly series, we put a mix of popular and under-the-radar tutorials to the test and show you what's best.

If it seems like celebrities' hair lengths change drastically roughly once a week, that's sort of true. With the magic of wigs and extensions, stars often seem to grow Rapunzel-like strands overnight. But the flip side of that is that sometimes they'll seem to have made major, unexpected chops — even when the reality is that they haven't gone anywhere near a pair of scissors. This is thanks to the phenomenon of the fake bob, and yes, it's totally doable even if you're not a celebrity with access to a pro stylist.

YouTuber Andrea Brooks of AndreasChoice put together an easy tutorial that shows how to create a faux bob with a few simple steps. Arm yourself with a brush, some bobby pins and a hair tie, and then follow along with her surprisingly quick (as in, it takes a few minutes) method.
