Sandals are unequivocally my favorite footwear category, so I've spent much of my free time in the past few months basically doing market research for sandal season. (Even in Los Angeles it gets too cold to wear sandals, who knew?) There are several I have my eye on, but since I have to pay rent and eat I can't buy them all. But there's been one material in particular that I can't stop thinking about: PVC.
The first time I saw Maryam Nassir Zadeh's Olympia wedge with transparent straps I was like, "Lol, what?" But then I saw someone wearing them last summer and something clicked. I've been thinking about them ever since, and PVC has become all the more trendy.
Now these wedges are available in a wide array of colors (including pink, which I guess I just can't stop wanting to wear) and I'm pretty sure need them. The shape feels both old and new somehow and I love that they have a solid three inches of height without being a straight-up high heel. My concern is their trendiness vs. their price, and also, is that just too much visible foot? Should I get a more neutral color, or these instead?
I'm going to have to think about it a little more, but chances are, by summer, you'll see me in some plastic sandals.
Maryam Nassir Zadeh Olympia wedges, $440, available at Opening Ceremony
