Tomas Maier is the latest in a long list of designers (including J.W. Anderson, Lemaire and Jil Sander) to collaborate with Uniqlo on an accessibly-priced capsule intended to bring high-end design to the masses. Maier's vision features a range of laid-back "easy living" pieces geared toward the low-maintenance beach bum, marking Uniqlo's first foray into resort wear.
"Our new collection is designed to work in many different ways. Beach attire can turn into lounge wear, casual cover-ups paired with polo shirts can easily be worn in town — this is the concept of my brand," Maier, who is the current creative director at Italian luxury house Bottega Veneta, said in a release. "Things work in many ways. Even if bought for a special trip or occasion the customer will soon discover these garments adapt to a year-round life."
The collection will be available for purchase online on uniqlo.com on May 17 and in Uniqlo stores the following day.
