I am a podiatrist's daughter, so I'm well-versed in the anatomy of a shoe and a foot. And in my many years of watching my dad save soles, I've learned what supportive, well-made footwear should look and feel like. I recently got my hands on a pair of block heel pumps by Swedish shoemaker Vagabond — and these are the most comfortable shoes I have treated my feet to in years, save for the squishy, cloud-like medical Crocs my dad gave me a while back.
I was initially drawn to the soft suede, pointy-toe pump because of its contrast wooden mid-rise heel. Plus, its white exterior and unique V-cut vamp seemed very Céline, and I love getting a taste of Phoebe Philo for only the tenth of the cost! Impeccable Scandinavian style aside, when I slipped into these shoes, I wasn't sure if I was performing relaxed warrior one poses on a foam yoga mat or walking around in nice, heeled shoes. What's more, they hug my feet in all the right places — no unpleasant ankle rubbing here — and they don't make me want to stretch my feet out after 30 minutes of wearing them.
Vagabond Eve Pump, $140, available at Nordstrom.
