Welcome to our column, "Hey, Quick Question," where we investigate seemingly random happenings in the fashion and beauty industries. Enjoy!
Have you ever housed a Chipotle burrito so appetizing, or tasted a spoonful of guacamole so worthy of its $1.95 price tag, that you've thought, "You know, I could get engaged in this place, right at this moment?" Marc Jacobs, American fashion king and purveyor of such fine cuisine has, apparently, because he proposed to his longtime partner, model and candlemaker Charly DeFrancesco, in a Chipotle on Wednesday night.
The engagement had, in the words of Bill Hader's Stefon, everything, including an elaborate flash mob set to the tunes of Prince's "Kiss." Jacobs posted a video of the whole thing to his Instagram later that evening: The clip opens to B-roll of a Chipotle on a New York City corner, "The Hills"-style, and it ends with a disembodied voice proclaiming, "Okay, okay, go get Chipotle!" (In between, we see the actual getting-down-on-one-knee, as well as Jacobs and DeFrancesco grooving together in oversized, Balenciaga-style puffers.) The post was also hashtagged "#flashmobatchipotle."
Was this proposal...#spon by Chipotle? (Chipotle does have queso now.) If so, WHO CARES! What an incredible way to secure free Chipotle for the rest of your life — or at the very least, for your wedding catering. You can watch the full video, below, and think on it yourself.
Congrats to the happy, fast casual-loving couple!
