I'm very enchanted by the swimwear brand Matteau, and have been since Dhani wrote about it last May. Founded by sisters Ilona Hamer and Peta Heinsen, the label is designed between Sydney and New York and made in Australia — and, of course, it's chic as hell. Its Instagram feed is a very pleasing mix of product, sun-drenched, minimalist interiors and luxe, moodboard-type composites. It kind of represents the life I'd want to lead if I suddenly designed to become an expat and relocate to Majorca. Which right now, as we patiently wait for spring to arrive in earnest, is especially appealing.
One of my favorite suits by the brand is the combination pictured above: the Trip Crop Top (a classic, semi-sporty triangle situation) and the High Waist Brief (a slightly retro, 1950s-style bottom). Together, the two are as timeless — and therefore, hopefully, worth the $270 investment — as they are sleek and fresh-feeling. I'd be perfectly happy wearing this to every beach vacation for the rest of my life, or even just up on my roof when I'm looking to get a quickie dose of vitamin D.
Or, as evidenced via Matteau's Instagram, to do this:
Look, I'm going to level with you: If I can dress like a chic expat in Majorca, I'm going to dress like a chic expat in Majorca. This bikini, presumably worth every penny, appears to be a great place to start.
