New York Fashion Week may be losing more of its homegrown designers each season, but New York City has never been a hotter location when it comes to staging fashion shows. Bottega Veneta took over Wall Street for its Fall 2018 runway. Dolce & Gabbana threw a four-day blowout in the Big Apple in early April, pulling out all the stops to stage both its Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria shows at iconic landmarks. Prada will be presenting its Cruise 2019 collection stateside in May.
Now, according to a report by WWD, we can add Saint Laurent to that list: Rumor has it that the brand plans to hold a fashion show in NYC on June 6. Details are sparse, but per "sources familiar with the label's plans," the lineup will include menswear. Historically, the brand has not presented Cruise collections with runway shows, but considering the rising popularity of pre-collections, it would not be surprising to see Saint Laurent branch out.
While nothing is official yet (officials from Saint Laurent declined to comment to WWD), a Saint Laurent fashion show would be a big get for the CFDA, which is staging its first official summer fashion week June 2 through June 6 after Alexander Wang announced he will show off-season.
Fashionista has reached out to Saint Laurent and will update with further information.
