Gucci has, obviously, become synonymous with Milan Fashion Week over the years, traditionally kicking off the Italian set of shows with one of the very first calendar slots on Wednesday. Next season, however, that space will be empty, as Gucci is reportedly joining the Paris Fashion Week schedule for one season only, a spokesperson for Gucci confirmed to Fashionista.

The Florence-based house will show in the French capital for the Spring 2019 season on Monday, Sept. 24 as part of what WWD describes as a "three-part homage to France," developed by Creative Director Alessandro Michele

"Gucci is a global brand with deep and vibrant Italian roots and a visionary French shareholder, Kering," said Marco Bizzarri, President and CEO of Gucci, in a release. "When Alessandro told me of his desire to present the new collection in Paris — continuing the French-inspired narrative — I thought it was a perfect way to continue the creative homage to France."

As for the specific show date, Bizzarri noted that the presentation will take place on the "transition date between Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks" so to avoid impacting attendees' travel schedules. Meanwhile, Gucci will still hold an event at its Gucci Hub in Milan on Wednesday, Sept. 19 during Milan Fashion Week.

Ahead of its Spring 2019 presentation, Gucci will be traveling to France — and soon! — for its Cruise 2019 show, taking place in the Provencal city of Arles next Thursday, May 30. Dior and Louis Vuitton will be showing their cruise collections in France, too, in Chantilly and Saint-Paul-de-Vence, respectively.

UPDATE, Monday, July 23, 2:49 p.m.: Two months after Gucci announced that it was set to join the Paris Fashion Week show schedule for the Spring 2019 season only, the Italian house has announced its official venue: Théâtre Le Palace, a historic theatre once known as a nightclub famous for its intersection of fashion, music and underground culture. "The Théâtre Le Palace resonates with the vision of the House as it is a venue that gave life to a (sub)culture that has inspired young generations up until today," said Gucci in a statement. Additionally, Gucci will reportedly be the first fashion house to show in this location.
