Do you ever catch yourself in repose, lost in your thoughts, reminiscing about how truly satisfying Lupita Nyong'o's 2014 red carpet circuit was? That whole awards season was punctuated by stellar look after stellar look after stellar look, culminating in the perfect, princess-y Prada gown she wore to collect her Oscar statuette. I don't know why I'm telling you this — if you're here, you're probably already a fan of Nyong'o's sartorial prowess and find yourself delighted by her style routinely.
I'm just trying to say that we, like so many of you out there, have been fixated on Nyong'o — and her work with her longtime stylist Micaela Erlanger — for years now. She is, and always will be, the best at clothes, even if it's just to stop by a glorified radio station on a Wednesday morning. Turns out, she did just that this week, paying a visit to SiriusXM Studios in New York in a fantastic Dolce & Gabbana dress with tank straps, a midi-length skirt and a mermaid hem. The dress itself is good, but on Nyong'o, it's fitted like it had been custom-made just for her. (Had it?!) It was accessorized with a whole lotta color: hot pink Paul Andrew pumps — we love a not-exactly-coordinating shoe concept — along with a black Fendi top-handle bag and rainbow Alison Lou earrings.
Beauty-wise, Nyong'o's go-to hairstylist Vernon François created a really beautiful look in what he described on his Instagram as "Afro puffs," featuring tens of what appear to be sterling silver bands. Her makeup, courtesy of makeup artist Nick Barose, was kept simple: just a moderately smoky eye, apple red cheeks and a burgundy lip.
Another best-ever look in the books for Nyong'o.
