The past few summers, I have had a bad habit of not going to the beach much, even though I love the beach and it's only a train ride away from me in Brooklyn. Even so, I get a good deal of wear out of my one-piece swimsuits, because of my tendency to wear them like bodysuits: with overalls or denim cut-offs to the park, to go dancing, to bum around on my roof, to garden and to go grocery shopping. Which is another way of saying, I pretty much wear them every place I think I can get away with it once it's warm enough, even if there's no body of water in sight.
For this coming summer, I'm eyeing this rainbow one-piece from Mara Hoffman, a designer I love for her emphasis on sustainability (this suit is made from recycled Econyl nylon!) and her gorgeous imagery. The bright colors on this piece feel so in-your-face-summery, and I like that the low-cut back shows a bit more skin than the modest front would lead you to believe. Who knows, maybe it'll even motivate me to spend some time in the ocean by season's end.
Olympia one-piece, $325, available at Mara Hoffman
