As if anyone had any doubts about where she falls in the Met Gala hierarchy, Rihanna — who's both a host this year and someone who's built a reputation for pulling off show-stopping looks in the past — showed up in a literal miter, the kind of tall headdress worn by bishops and the Pope. In the church, headgear conveys something about the rank of the clergy wearing it, and on the red carpet, Rihanna's had a similar effect. It also showed off her earrings by Maria Tash and Konstantino Jewelry.
Her whole ensemble was designed by John Galliano for Margiela, and featured elaborate beading and gilding fit for royalty, paired with Christian Louboutin heels. Of course, because it's Rihanna we're talking about here and not the actual Pope, the look showed more skin than might be appropriate in some churches with a mini-skirted front and sweetheart neckline that showed off copious amounts of what we would guess is Fenty Body Lava.
Take us to church, RiRi.
