Thandie Newton kicked off her promotional tour for "Solo: A Star Wars Story" with a bang at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. As the the first Black woman to star in one of the "Star Wars" franchise films, Newton arrived on the red carpet in a custom Vivienne Westwood dress with a print featuring past Black male "Star Wars" characters. We've always been a fan of the British actress's style, but we can't help but watch her every sartorial move as she promotes her new film.
Her latest look — from Rodarte's Fall 2018 collection — was also a huge hit at the "Solo" premiere in London on Wednesday evening. Newton's stunningly dreamy gown was made from red tulle and embellished with embroidered polka dots and butterflies. Underneath was a layer of sparkling sequins, adding an ethereal effect to the whole ensemble. Oooh, pretty.
Newton made sure her dress was the statement piece of the night, as she wore her curls in an updo with subtle-yet-still-romantic makeup. Her stylist Erin Walsh completed the outfit with black strappy heels and a geometric clutch.
As "Solo" continues to premiere around the world, we can't wait to see what Newton will wear next.
