I'm never someone who particularly likes blow-drying my hair, though if I absolutely have to do it, this dryer is the only one I'll use. But now that summer's finally here, I tend to avoid it like photos of the Warriors celebrating their latest NBA championship. (Sob, King James 4ever.) But because my natural hair texture is what I like to call "puffy" — no, not curly or wavy or straight, just super-fine and cotton-candy-like — if I'm going to have any chance at getting it to look normal via air-drying, I have to load up on product that will lend control and texture while fighting frizz and fluffiness. And here's the catch: It has to do all of that (in humidity!) without weighing said fine strands down.

So far, Bumble and Bumble's Don't Blow It (the formula specifically for fine hair; there's also one for thicker textures) is the best product I've found to accomplish all of the above. It's a thin, slightly runny cream that smooths through damp hair easily, almost like a leave-in conditioner. And that's actually kind of what it is, when you consider the soy protein and yucca stem extract in the formula. But it also contains polymers that create flexible hold — seriously, even if you load up with a ton of this product, it won't turn strands crispy or crunchy — and bounce, allowing hair to do its natural air-dry thing, but way better. It tamps down puffiness and flyaways without creating a heaviness or slickness and has allowed me to finally become one of those people who just twists their damp hair into a braid, lets it dry and then unwinds it into soft, undone, beachy waves. That, as far as I'm concerned, is The Dream™ in the summer.
