Western motifs have been everywhere in fashion lately, from Calvin Klein's apocalyptic vision of Americana to Dior's prairie dresses in Calabasas. After DSquared2's rodeo-inspired show in February, the brand stuck to the theme for its latest ad campaign, which features Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner wearing Western shirts and Sam McKnight wigs so voluminous they'd make Dolly Parton proud.
Shot by Mert and Marcus, the campaign shows Hadid and Jenner watching old cowboy films on TV, lounging in seedy motel rooms, making calls on landline telephones and flirting while playing cards with bolo-tie-wearing male models.
"Somewhere off a highway in the mid-West, a duo of bad girl honeys check in to a motel room; their high hair swinging over the collar of their check shirts. They call up their guys for an in-room party," a press release from the brand says of the short films.
While the storyline isn't quite that discernible from the snippets released for the brand's fall 2018 campaign, the glamorized vision of an old Hollywood Western nevertheless shines through. View two snippets from the campaign above and below, and watch this space for updates.
