The 2018 MTV Movie and TV Awards — hosted delightfully, we assume, by Tiffany Haddish — took place on Saturday evening. But no, don't worry, you didn't miss them yet: While the show was taped over the weekend, it won't air until Monday evening at 9 p.m. on the network. Because this year's event included all of your favorite film and television stars, it had a whiff of the Emmys — but, you know, MTV-ier. In other words, the red carpet was heavily populated with stars of buzzy teen dramas ("Riverdale," "13 Reasons Why," "Stranger Things") and comedies ("Grownish") as well as the channel's usual suspects, like Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Zendaya, Michael B. Jordan and Nick Jonas.

The fashion was fun and playful, in typical MTV red carpet style, and overall, it didn't disappoint: Tessa Thompson's gauzy crimson Rosie Assoulin gown and long braids made for an impactful moment, as did Yara Shahidi's custom Tory Burch powder-blue suit. Zendaya's brown, structured archival August Getty Atelier dress (shown above) had her "Lookin like a fine ass unwrapped, caramel filled Hershey's kiss," in her own words. (No disagreements here.) The always fashionably age-appropriate Sadie Sink kept things casual in jeans, which she paired with a sparkly Gucci jacket so good it's pretty much impossible not to covet.

But it wouldn't be an MTV red carpet without a few missteps. Kardashian, for one, chose to complement her very Kim-right-now Atelier Versace skirt and top with cornrows that made much of the internet (rightfully) stop and collectively groan. (Really, Kim? We're still doing this in 2018? Ugh.)
