The dandy may be dead, but showgoers at Pitti Uomo made sure to put their streetwear and ugly sneakers away for a few days in Florence. Instead of the usual influx of tailored suits, the fashion crowd opted for more-casual-but-still-polished garb — think loose-fitting silhouettes, or jeans paired with a blazer — along with a very summer-friendly accessory: neckerchiefs. The sliver of printed fabric was seen peeking from the collar of dress shirts, or draped over pristinely white T-shirts.
It's a trend that's been picking up some steam since last summer, when a certain British GQ writer noticed the rise of the neck scarf throughout the men's shows, both on and off the runway. With Milan Fashion Week Men's in full swing, we're already about halfway through men's fashion month. Will we be seeing more of the neckerchief within the menswear scene this season? We wouldn't be mad about it.
