In January of last year, Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez broke the New York fashion industry's collective heart by announcing that they'd be taking their brand to Paris for upcoming fashion weeks. Proenza Schouler was one of many brands that left the Big Apple for Paris around that time — others included Thom Browne and Rodarte — but losing Proenza Schouler was a particularly tough blow considering how strong the brand's connection to New York is.

If that announcement inspired mourning, the brand's latest news, released Thursday morning via Instagram, is sure to be widely celebrated: Proenza Schouler is headed back to New York for its Spring 2019 show this September.

"It's been a fun ride showing the past two seasons in Paris during Couture (thank you Chambre Syndicale) but NY will always be home so we are coming back for Spring Summer 2019," the brand shared via Instagram. "In today's world, when, where, and how one shows can be looser and more fluid than ever and so for now, NY is our home once again. Paris was an amazing opportunity to show what we do to a completely different audience that had never been able to attend a Proenza Schouler show and on that level, as well as on a creative level, it felt really right."

As one of the anchor names on NYFW's roster, the homecoming is sure to be a welcome one for both editors and the CFDA, which has been experimenting with new schedules and formats (i.e., supporting Alexander Wang's choice to show off-season earlier this week) to help New York Fashion Week get its groove back.

"[We're] looking forward to heading back home now and being a part of NYFW in September, where it all began," Proenza Schouler said via Instagram. We assure you, Jack and Lazaro: the feeling is mutual.
