When Alexa Chung first launched her line, the appropriately-dubbed Alexachung, in May of last year, she did so outside the pressures of the traditional fashion calendar. Instead of trying to compete in a crowded fashion week space, she chose to throw a party with a modest debut runway for friends and select fashion press in London just before the start of summer. Since then, Chung has released a few more collections, all with themed parties and small presentations.
But one year on, it seems like Chung is ready for the big leagues. For the Spring 2019 season, Alexachung will be a part of the official London Fashion Week calendar, with a runway show slated for Saturday, Sept. 15. There are scant details about the show itself, but judging by Chung's previous efforts — like a prom-themed party — we're sure this is one event no one in London will want to miss.
The addition of Chung to the calendar also adds one more buzzy event to the September schedule; between Riccardo Tisci's much-anticipated debut at Burberry and Victoria Beckham's homecoming to fête her 10th anniversary, it's shaping up to be an exciting London Fashion Week indeed.
