It's been more than eight months since Victoria Beckham announced that she would be teaming up with Reebok on all things sportswear, and on Friday, the global athletic brand debuted the first release from the highly anticipated collaboration: A capsule collection of merch, which was teased during an event in April, which channels the '90s, basketball and Shaquille O'Neal, inspired by the designer's visit to Reebok's archives at its Boston-based headquarters.
"For me this capsule really represents a celebration of that era, Reebok and Shaq's shared history in basketball, and the great heritage pieces I discovered in those archives," says Beckham in an official statement. "The unisex approach, and the nods to streetwear that are present in this capsule, are important elements that I will take through to the full collection I am currently working on."
The limited-edition range includes a hoodie ($200), T-shirt ($140) and socks ($50) in black and white colorways with the Reebok and O'Neal's "dunkman" logos accented in red. The collection will be available for purchase on Thursday, July 26 online at Reebok.com and VictoriaBeckham.com. The designer's website will also offer the merch in an exclusive sunset orange colorway.
So far, Beckham has hinted at "technical workout clothing," as well as a pair of unisex sneakers, for what to expect from her full collection with Reebok, which will officially debut towards the end of 2018.
