At the start of last year, Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy announced that they were decamping to Paris couture week from New York Fashion Week. The American fashion scene mourned the loss, for the Los Angeles-based sisters lent a sense of elegant whimsy and dreaminess to the NYFW calendar. But we can cheer up now because as per an Instagram post on Monday evening, the duo is coming back to the states.

"We are excited to announce we will be showing our SS19 collection during NYC Fashion Week," the brand wrote via Instagram. "We are thrilled to create the show with our amazing team: Brian Phillips and Black Frame, Alex de Betak and Bureau Betak, IMG and our beauty and hair teams: James Kaliardos using Nars Cosmetics, Odile Gilbert for TreSemmé hair."

The news of the label's homecoming follows Proenza Schouler's recent announcement that it, too, will present its Spring 2019 collection in New York this September after showing in Paris the last few seasons. According to WWD, Rodarte will present its warm-weather range on Sept. 9.

Does this mean the CFDA-helmed week will win back more of the designers it lost over the year? The return of Proenza Schouler and Rodarte does fill some gaping holes in the NYFW schedule, but will headliners, like Thom Browne and Altuzarra, who also took part in the mass exodus to Paris come back? It will certainly be something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
