At the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on Sunday night, BET hosted its annual Black Girls Rock!, an award show celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of Black women and girls. The evening, hosted by Queen Latifah, honored Janet Jackson, Naomi Campbell, Lena Waithe and more, as well as paid tribute to Aretha Franklin. As expected, the clothes on the red carpet were just as inspiring as the women who wore them.
Music legend Mary J. Blige arrived in a punchy animal print Roberto Cavalli dress, which featured ample cut-outs, a pleated skirt and a high slit. But she wasn't the only singer to turn heads: Jackson wore a bewitching, floral-embellished Christian Siriano gown. Storm Reid also opted for statement florals in a strapless, dip-dyed dress by Monique Lhuillier, while fellow Hollywood youth Amandla Stenberg went for a sophisticated stripes moment in a cropped Thom Browne suit. Sequins seemed to be a common choice among the best-dressed attendees, including Cynthia Erivo in a look from Sally LaPointe, Ciara in Balmain and Ava DuVernay, the latter of whom sparkled in Michael Kors Collection.
