A few weeks ago, the Fashionista team took a fun morning field trip to The Met Cloisters to see the second half of the Costume Institute's Heavenly Bodies exhibit. For the occasion, Dara was wearing a very cool pair of sailor-style jeans with which I quickly became obsessed; though her original style (from Front Row Shop) had long sold out, I grew determined to find a still-available pair I loved just as much to join my small army of Levi's.
So, earlier this week, I came across Dôen's Maritime Jean, the brand's 100-percent cotton take on sailor pants of the late 1960s. They were everything I'd been looking for, and then some. The wash is light, but not too light; the length is cropped, but not too cropped; the cut is flared, but not too flared — you get it. Plus, look at the high waist and back pockets!
They're vintage-looking, like maybe I'd pulled them from a pile of decades-old denim at a chic flea market instead of finding them the way I did, which was via computer while parked on my couch. I have no shame about shopping on Dôen's website, though, because I both love and respect the brand a whole lot. (You can read more about why here.)
Clearly, I'm very excited for these jeans to show up so I can stop thinking about how much better my life is going to be when I can wear them every day.
Dôen Maritime Jean, $158, available here.
