Ever since Hedi Slimane was announced as the new artistic, creative and image director of Céline — yes, official title — the French luxury house has been extremely mum about what to expect from Slimane's runway debut at Paris Fashion Week this fall. But, allegedly, we're already getting a sneak peek of post-Phoebe Philo Céline, all thanks to Lady Gaga.
The performer and artist has been traipsing around Paris since the beginning of the week, doing what anyone would do during a trip to the French capital, like, oh, you know, a private viewing at the Louvre. For the artsy excursion, Gaga wore a figure-hugging House of CB dress in an on-trend safety orange hue, paired with Ray-Ban sunglasses, black pumps and what appears to be a Slimane-designed Céline handbag, according to a few eagle-eyed folks on social media. She topped the final look with a black leather Alaïa coat.
The roomy top-handle handbag is made from black leather with gold hardware and a hanging tag — that reminds us of Slimane's Saint Laurent days — personalized with Gaga's initials "L.G." We all know Slimane has a knack for very profitable, business-driving accessories, so we can only assume that this particular item will fly off the shelves as soon as its available for purchase. What's even more interesting is that Gaga was the first celebrity to wear an off-the-runway look from Slimane's debut collection for Saint Laurent (that's Spring 2013) in late 2012, so the two clearly have a lucrative business partnership.
Gaga's stay in Paris will eventually be cut short, as she plans to travel to Italy for the upcoming debut of her new film "A Star Is Born," alongside director-actor Bradley Cooper, at Venice Film Festival later this week. (The movie arrives in theaters in October.) The good news is that we'll be expecting to see many more fashion moments from Gaga very, very soon.
