It is 2018, folks, which means we do not have to pretend your body "should" look any certain way, especially a way dictated by normative beauty standards! That said, it is nice at times to have a few styling tricks on hand should you be in the mood to look curvier or taller or shorter on any given day. And for those of us who may on occasion want to make our legs appear a little longer, there's no need to look any further for inspiration than actress Laura Harrier's Versace outfit worn to Build Studio in New York City on Tuesday.
Harrier's look was deceptively simple, with a straight-across black tube top worn tucked into black pants. Black heels with ankle straps and gold detailing coordinated with her black, gold-buckled belt and minimal jewelry. The look's super-lengthening powers can be attributed to a few things: first, the ultra-high-waisted pants, which automatically lengthen legs; pairing them with a top of the same color just furthers the effect. Belting the ensemble with an eye-catching buckle right at the waist helps along the illusion that Harrier's legs literally start above her belly button.
After successfully creating that all-legs impression, the only things Harrier had to add to the outfit to make it feel complete were a sleek updo, her ever-glowy skin and a full, bold red lip. We're taking notes.
