Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world's eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We'll be following the Meghan Markle Effect™ with our column, "Meghan Markle Wore a Thing."
Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and her red-headed Prince Harry have kept a rather low profile this month to enjoy the final bits of summer, like the rest of us plebeians. But, the newly-married royal pair crept back into the public eye on Wednesday evening to attend the "Hamilton" performance gala at the Victoria Palace Theatre. Proceeds from the night's ticket sales went to Sentebale, a charity the Duke of Sussex co-founded that supports the mental health and wellbeing of young people affected by HIV in Lesotho and Botswana.
The Duchess arrived at the event wearing a Judith & Charles tuxedo mini-dress, which she accessorized with a black and gold clutch and Paul Andrew pointed pumps. The long-sleeve ensemble hit above the knee, making it a proper mini get-up and could perhaps be her most daring outfit to date: She's often seen in ankle-grazing, fit-and-flare frocks and sleek skirts that fall below her knees. But if the world is going to obsess over every garment that touches her body, then we'll applaud any sartorial risks she chooses to take, whether the Queen likes it or not.
Despite her decision to expose her thighs, Markle's theater ensemble stayed true to her elegant style — what's more polished (and sexy) than a well-tailored tuxedo dress? And to literally top off the look, Markle wore her hair in a middle-parted clean bun. Of course, Prince Harry was beside her in a sharp suit.
