There's a delicacy to classic white lace that can make it ever-so-pretty in many contexts, but its nuptial connotations mean it too often gets relegated exclusively to the world of brides-to-be. So what if you want to wear a white lace dress without looking like you're about to walk down the aisle? Take a cue from Tracee Ellis Ross and the Simone Rocha dress she wore to appear on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Tuesday night while promoting the new season of "Black-ish."
With a midi-length sheer overlay worn over a shorter, strapless underskirt and top, the dress showed off a bit of skin despite its demure silhouette. Ellis Ross's stylist Karla Welch paired the dress with pointy-toed silver Jimmy Choo stilettos that helped make the dress feel appropriate for late night TV, but kept her accessories minimal otherwise — just simple earrings and a silver ring from Jennifer Meyer. Makeup artist Tracy Levy went the unfussy route with natural-looking pinks highlighting Ellis Ross's eyelids, cheeks and lips, and hairstylist Marcia Hamilton finished the look off by pulling the actress's voluminous hair back from her face so it could be clearly seen from all camera angles.
