What Whitney Wishes She Were Wearing on the Last Day of NYFW

Getting dressed for New York Fashion Week is always a bit of a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, the thought of figuring out what to wear when I know I'll see pretty much every bigwig in my industry is a bit stressful, and the ever-present photographers don't help allay anxiety about how one looks. But on the other hand, I really do love having an excuse to get dressed up (shocking coming from a fashion writer, I know).
That said, we're finally at the end of NYFW, which means I'm about to get much lazier with what I put on in the morning than I've been for the past seven days. But seeing all the creativity that influencers, editors, models and designers have been putting into their own outfits and trotting down the runway still has me in a bit of a fashion-as-fantasy mood, which is why I can't stop thinking about this teacup-shaped velvet dress from Cecilie Bahnsen.
The unconventional silhouette is fun enough that I could see wearing it to fashion week with funky layers underneath, but the black keeps it tame enough that it could presumably be worn more casually throughout the rest of the year, too. If we're being honest, there's no way I'm going to have the budget to shill out over two grand for this delightfully shapeless wonder anytime soon, but I'll take comfort in the idea of an alternate universe Whitney choosing this for her last day of fashion week this season. Au revoir, NYFW.
