After a nice long weekend of shows, the street stylers in London kicked off the week in all sorts of bold stripes. But this popular choice wasn't seen on just any ordinary button-down. Instead, the fashion crowd currently camped out across the pond swapped classic navy-and-white marinière stripe for all-over, in-your-face repeating lines. Showgoers wore stripes in vivid reds, neon pinks and sweet pastels on everything from preppy polos to day dresses. We also spotted a diagonal version of the ubiquitous pattern on billowy frocks, which added excitement to the casual get-ups.
Stripes are present during every fashion month, both on the runway and the pavement, but the street style pack made them feel refreshingly new: One model paired pinstripe pants with a relaxed sweatshirt in a bubblegum hue and another accessorized traditional black-and-white stripes with pops of paintbox brights. Looks like we better take notes on new ways to wear stripes for fall.
