There are two things to expect when it comes to a Marc Jacobs runway show: The designer's seasonal presentation officially marks the end of New York Fashion Week, and it (almost always) starts right on time. On Wednesday night, Jacobs didn't fulfill either of those, as his Spring 2019 show started nearly 90 minutes, causing editors to worry about possibly missing Rihanna's Savage X Fenty fashion week debut — and official closer of the seven-day stint of shows — in Brooklyn.
Regardless, it was well worth the wait. In addition to the models' vintage-inspired and pastel-heavy beauty looks, Jacobs's newest collection was a visual feast: ruffles on ruffles, exaggerated silhouettes, voluminous dresses, mega-boxy blazers and loads of sparkle, all wrapped up in a punchy, sugary color palette.
