Take an Exotic Vacation With the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2019 Collection
After a few seasons at the helm of Oscar de la Renta, it seems as though designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia are truly hitting their stride. The proof? Their Spring 2019 collection for the brand, which was as wearable as it was beautiful.
It may have been raining on the rooftop of Spring Studios on Tuesday morning, but Kim and Garcia presented a collection that brought the levels of sunshine you'd expect from a warm-weather vacation. There were plenty of oversize Ikat prints, sunny shades of yellow and delicate fringe on everything from statement earrings and shoe ties to evening gowns and breezy caftans. The kinds of crocheted pieces you might pick up at an outdoor local market were paired with elegant flats and embroidered, wide-legged pants.
Where Oscar de la Renta really shines is in eveningwear, and Kim and Garcia did not disappoint in that department. Gowns were cropped or cut away to reveal the models' shoes, and felt — dare we say? — sexy thanks to sheer embroideries and feather embellishments. For those not into gowns, the duo offered up silky pants and fringed tops as an alternative.

As the lighter colors and bright patterns gave way to sexier shades of black and gold, we could easily picture the Oscar de la Renta woman coming back from a day of sightseeing to change into a slinky outfit for a poolside cocktail — and we wanted to be right there with her.
