Having grown up in the tropics, it's taken me a bit of time as an adult to figure out how to dress in a way that still feels like "me" in cold weather. Only recently have I come to realize that a statement-making coat is a key part of the equation, because in winter, it's the main part of my outfit that people will see anyway. So far I have a black-and-white snakeskin print coat and a multicolored quilt coat, both of which I love dearly and wear all the time.
And now I'm hankering to add this delightful rainbow number from Dauphinette, an outerwear brand that reworks vintage pieces, to my repertoire. The colors are so pretty and the shape is so fun (plus it's roomy enough that it would be perfect for wearing over all manner of bulky sweaters and other cozy things). But my favorite detail might have to be the buttons, which are made from sea glass (!) collected from the Great Lakes, according to the website. Nothing could make a winter day brighter.
Dauphinette Beatrix vintage coat, $725, available here.
