After living in various corners of the country and doing a fair amount of traveling, I've come to realize that my skin is very sensitive to climate. Historically, it's been pretty combination and acne-prone, veering toward oily in the summer and dry in the winter. That is, until I moved from New York to Los Angeles. With its desert-like dryness and virtually non-existent winter, my skin has benefited greatly from the move. I rarely break out and never have to deal with unwanted shine; my skin does get a bit dry throughout the day, but it's nothing a face mist and occasional sheet mask can't remedy. And, like LA weather, my skin quality stays pretty consistent year-round.
Unfortunately, this change wasn't permanent, and whenever I find myself in a new location with high levels of humidity, my skin reverts to feeling extremely oily and dirty mere minutes after I wash my face. Right now, I'm in Mexico — where it's exceptionally humid this time of year — for my dad's wedding, and while I was limited by TSA restrictions and wish I could've brought a couple more products, I'm so glad I chose to include this Fresh clay mask (which I luckily received in a one-ounce-size in a gift bag a while back), in my carry-on. This product has been around for years, so if you already knew about it, let this serve as a reminder.
In addition to being known for helping to clear and prevent acne, it's great at controlling oil production and just making skin feel clean. The formula is also multi-functional, and can be used as a full mask (which is how I tend to use it), a spot treatment or even a cleanser, so you can tailor the way you use it based on what your skin needs. Now that my dad has made Mexico his permanent home, and since I don't really need this product in LA, I'll probably just leave a tube of it here so it's ready for me every time I visit.
