Five months after Meghan Markle wed Prince Harry, officially joining the British royal family, Kensington Palace announced on Monday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first baby — a royal baby! — this spring.

Rebecca English, a royal correspondent for the Daily Mail London, reports that the Duchess told the royal family at Princess Eugenie's wedding on Friday.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019," wrote Kensington Palace in a tweet early Monday morning accompanied by an image of the Duke and Duchess earlier this month.

The royal pregnancy news comes just as the couple embarks on their extensive, 76-engagement tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji, which commenced on in Sydney on Sunday.
