Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world's eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We'll be following the Meghan Markle Effect with our column, "Meghan Markle Wore a Thing."

Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still in Australia, and the most recent stop on their tour is Melbourne — specifically, the beach. Considering the Duchess's penchant for looks that would be at home in a (very classy) office setting, we were interested to see what she'd pick for a seaside stop that involved traipsing through sand.

The first adjustment she made to her usual look came in the form of shoes: Rather than opting for her classic stiletto heels, the Duchess wore a pair of practical, comfortable flats made of recycled plastic by Rothy's. (This marks the second day in a row that the Duchess has worn a label known specifically for ethical manufacturing and production, after yesterday's Outland Denim jeans.) The rest of the outfit was pretty simple — a black sleeveless A-line Club Monaco dress with gold buttons down the side under a khaki Martin Grant trench coat — and sophisticated without being fussy. The Duchess accessorized with a bangle by Shaun Leane.
