Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world's eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We'll be following the Meghan Markle Effect™ with our column, "Meghan Markle Wore a Thing."
Have you ever found yourself standing in front of your closet before a hiking or camping trip, wondering what you can wear that's appropriate for the coming activity but also cute enough to be seen by the world once pictures of the outing inevitably end up on Instagram? Multiply that feeling times about a billion, and you have the conundrum that Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle faced prior to a national park visit in Wellington, New Zealand on Sunday.
Though the Duchess and her husband Prince Harry weren't exactly camping, the rainy weather and the destination — Abel Tasman National Park — meant that stilettos and a fancy dress wouldn't be quite the right fit for the occasion. As she is wont to do, the Duchess managed to strike just the right balance with what she chose to wear instead: She opted for a pair of black jeans from Outland Denim, an ethical Australian brand she's worn more than once on her current royal tour, practical flat Stella McCartney x Adidas faux leather sneakers, and a navy rain jacket by English brand Seasalt over a black turtleneck and a blue scarf. We'll be filing this one away for our next camping trip.
