Showgoers turned to silhouette-enhancing waist cinchers over the last few days at Paris Fashion Week. The bold belts appeared in numerous forms, from Loewe's lace-up corset-style obi belt to more classic, wide leather versions in bright colors. They tied the waist-defining accessory around everything from billowy dresses and power blazers to cropped flares and baggy wide-leg pants.

Perhaps the fashion crowd was inspired to buckle up by the Fall 2018 runways, which championed the return of defined waists. But belts have also been a part of the street style pack's sartorial arsenal for quite some time: Gucci's Insta-famous double-G belt led the charge back in 2016, while Off-White's extremely long, caution tape-like industrial belts punctuated outfits in seasons that followed. This time, around, the fashion set was less concerned with adding length and logos to their mid-sections and was more focused on adding eye-catching detail, such as a giant buckle, ruffles, pearls and even chains. It's time to buckle up for fall.
